New York City is one of the most popular cities in all of United States. Many people are in awe of the New York City Illustrated Map with the amazing landmarks and the remarkable skyline that it is one of the cities with a high number of tourist arrivals. This is also the best choice for companies who are in the gig economy because of the number of people they can tap into.

Sadly, this summer might not be fun one for companies capitalizing in the gig economy because the city has decided to limit the number of vehicles that can roam around the city. The limit is imposed on cars that are working for ride-sharing companies such as Lyft and Uber.

Bill de Blasio, the mayor of New York, got the city council to approve the law in order concerning Airbnb. The company is now mandated to submit a list of addresses that are hosting for the company along with the owners’ names which are to be submitted to the law enforcement office.

This move has dubbed New York as the first city to be able to do something about the increasing control that the gig economy has in terms of the lodging and the transportation sector.

The speaker from the city council, Corey Johnson, said that what they did is to set an example for other cities that they are also in control of putting up reasonable regulations in place. He is an advocate in cracking down tech companies that are capitalizing in the gig economy.

With the increasing number of apps, the city officials have found out that each of them comes with different challenges they have to deal with in order to protect New York City thus they are putting up policies in place.

The same thing happened in 2015 when Uber was mandated to limit their vehicles on the road. The public lobbied and they were able to win over the legislations. This time, the company said that putting a limit will increase prices and it will present a hassle to travelers going to the outer boroughs unlike Manhattan where transportation options are endless. Judging by how big the city looking at a New York City Illustrated Map, city officials have their work cut out for them in this crack down process.
